I will warn you – this post has a lot of photos.
But that’s because I am just so darn excited about my new camera. The Canon 6D.
I have been loving getting back into photography and love learning new tricks every day.
If you tire of photos of beautiful scenery then this post isn’t for you.
On the last day our friends were here we took them up to Aguille du Midi. Now we take all our friends here because it’s such a beautiful vantage point to appreciate the beautiful French, Swiss & Italian alps.
It was the perfect opportunity for me to take the new camera out for a
On the way up in the cable car, you can see yourself moving up through and over the clouds.
And once you’re up there, the view is breathtaking.
What do you think of the new toy?
I knew you’d be as chuffed as me.
On our way down Dee mentioned what terrible French hosts we were because we were yet to take them for traditional French crepes. I can’t having people thinking I am an inhospitable host so I made a beeline to the creperie to right this very serious wrong.
Dee went for savoury with mushrooms, ham & cheese.
I opted for chocolate, apple & caramel.
Now before I leave you, I would also like to talk about photo editing.
I used photoshop when I was at school, but I hadn’t touched it for almost a decade.
There seems to be so many more options on the market these days, so I was rather daunted when looking at what photography editing software to get.
After some research I decided to go with Adobe Photoshop Lightroom. I took advantage of their 30 day free trial and found that it made everything about photography easier, faster, and more amazing. I was able to perfect my shots with powerful adjustment tools and efficiently organize all my photos.
I know Photoshop is the world’s most advanced image editing app that enables you to enhance, retouch, and manipulate photographs in ways not possible with Lightroom, however I found Lightroom to be a tad simpler. All those options can sometimes be overwhelming.
So when I went to purchase Lightroom, I was pleasantly surprised to see that Adobe are currently running a special which gives you Lightroom + Photoshop CC for only $10 a month. What a bargain! Why not have 2 for the price of 1?
So after a few online tutorials on how to use Photoshop, I found it way simpler than I imagined.
Here’s me playing around with a few bits & bobs. You can change the lighting, colours and mood of your photos at the touch of a (few) button (s).
I even learned how to replace someone’s head. You know when you take a photo & everyone looks great except one person! Well using Photoshop, you can fix that with a few simple steps.
The photo on the left is perfect except the mister has his eyes closed. However he looks rather dashing in the photo on the right.
After watching this 5 minute tutorial I was able to take his head from the photo on the right and impose it on the photo on the left.
Pretty cool huh?
I think I am in love with Photoshop.
Let me know if you want me to post more about my learning curve with photo editing and I’d love to hear about your photo editing tips – pop them in the comments or get me on Facebook or Twitter.
