In some of my previous posts I have mentioned that my fiancé and I go down to the Margaret River region a lot. So much so, that we are getting married there later this year.
What’s not to love about the Margaret River region? It is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, the best surf, amazing wineries and breweries and picturesque bushland.
Margaret River itself is around a three-hour drive south of Perth. However, we usually stay around the Yallingup-Dunsborough area, which is 2.5 hours (and closer to our favourite wineries and beaches).
One of my favourite wineries happens to be a convenient stop on the way down just in between Busselton and Dunsborough – Flametree.
Flametree offer two ranges: their Embers range – which is more of an entry style wine and their more boutique Flametree range. Both ranges offer some fantastic wines.
My favourite Flametree wine is their sparkling white the Flametree Brut NV Sparkling ($27), I always pick up a couple of bottles to have handy for a special occasion.
I also feel like I need to give their 2012 Shiraz ($25) a special mention and their 2013 Chardonnay ($25) was a pleasant surprise during this trip down, both would be amazing to drink now or after a few years in the cellar.
The Flametree cellar door offers more than just a wine tasting experience. They offer delicious gourmet cheese and meat platters for you to enjoy while sipping a glass of their wine on the beautiful premises.
Unfortunately we felt that our 10.30am arrival was too early for a platter this time around… but not too early to do the wine tasting of course.
The beautiful beachy style building, their delicious sparkling wine, their outstanding range of wines, the fact it is located on the way down and their gourmet platters is what puts Flametree Winery in my top 3 wineries of Margaret River.
Let me know what you think next time you visit.
