To be honest I am pretty obsessed with my eyebrows.
It’s what I spend the most time on in my make up routine and I’m generally never happy.
I tend to buy a new eyebrow product every other week so I have been through quite a few.
It all started with a practical joke.
When I was about 14, when my adolescent angst was just rearing it’s ugly head – my friends decided it would be funny to shave half of each eyebrow off.
Real funny right? I’ve never quite seen the humour in it.
My brows have never quite been the same and are a bit sparse, short and uneven.
But after a few weeks off school and a lifetime of obsessing, I think I’ve finally perfected my routine.
Tools of the trade
Tweeze: I generally tweeze my brows every few days to keep them generally groomed. Unfortunately i’ve never been able to wait long enough for a wax.
Groom: I use the brush end of the eyebrow pencil to brush the hairs up and outwards to groom them a bit before filling in.
Fill in: After sharpening my eyebrow pencil, I lightly fill in the brows starting with the outside first and working my way in. I try to keep the strokes light to make sure they look natural for a casual day-time look and press slightly harder for a more dramatic night-time look.
Hold: I haven’t found an eyebrow gel that I love so I just spray a touch of hairspray onto my finger and sweep across my brows to keep them in place.
Brush: I use the brush end of the eyebrow pencil to brush the hairs as a final groom and to soften the hairspray.
Highlight: I use the white high brow pencil to lightly stroke on the brow bone, then blend. I find this raises the brows slightly and makes your eyes look rather bright.
Night time: When I remember I use the brow enhancing serum which is supposed to encourage hair growth, but to be honest I haven’t really noticed any difference. I probably need to be a tad more diligent with it.
