Best Coffee In Venice | Italy | The Macadames - 6

Note: I am not a coffee connoisseur or anything, I just like good coffee. I don’t know the coffee lingo or the ways to describe flavour, but I have done my best to do so. If you actually know what you’re talking about, please don’t laugh. The intention of his post was to find good coffee shops to save you having to suffer bad coffee. I hope they help. Happy travels! xx

Ahhhh Italy, the land of perfect coffees and creamy gelatis.

I am excited to finally be in a country who, like me, take their coffee very seriously.

My first stop was in Italy was Venice. With it’s windy canals & cobbled streets, I managed to find a few perfect spots to get my crack caffeine hit.

Caffe del Doge

Location: Castello, 6034 – 30122 Venezia

Coffee (4.5/5): I asked them for their specialty and was given their Guatemalan espresso which was strong, smooth and delicious. But that wasn’t enough, they were showing off and had me sample their flagship coffee, the Giacametto. Which is a coffee made with coffee, gianduja, cream, cacao, milk & nuts. Basically, it was a cup smeared with chocolate and filled with frothy, milky coffee. It was so delicious I almost asked for another.

It didn’t last long!

Atmosphere: I went in the middle of the day and it was busy yet relaxed. The staff seemed ran off their feet a bit but always had time to chat to customers.

Seating: Several seats with tables inside and a few out site.

Service: As mentioned the staff were knowledgable and friendly.

Food: Packaged snacks, pastries and sweets.

Wifi: No.

Torrefazione Marchi

Location: Cannaregio, 1337 – Venezia

Coffee (5/5): Again, I asked for their specialty so they brought me an espresso and cappuccino. The espresso was strong, slightly bitter but not overly so. I added a tad of sugar and it was perfect. The cappuccino was hot, smooth and foamy. Overall the coffee was the best I tried in Venice.

Atmosphere: There was next to no vibe when I visited. There were no customers and just a few awkward (but very nice) staff manning the machines.

Seating:  There are virtually no seats inside or out so this isn’t a place you’d linger over your morning coffee. There is a slight bench in which I stopped

Service: The ladies serving were friendly and fun. They even gave me a mini tour of the venue.

Food: Biscuits, chocolates & tea.

Wifi: No.

Magna Bevitasi

Location: Campo S.S. Filippo e Giacomo – Castello 4520VeniceC

Coffee (3/5): I ordered a flat white for me and an espresso for the lad. Although they were both great compared to normal European standards, it wasn’t amazing. But if you stumble past and in need of a coffee, you won’t regret going in!

Atmosphere: The place was bustling with people when we visited. It seemed like a place where loads of locals frequented, which made us feel like little Venetians for the day.

Seating: There are loads of seats inside and out. We sat inside because it was a nice place to cool off from the summer heat.

Service: The waiters were nice though pretty brusque, but I am sure this had to do with the language barrier.

Food: They serve lots of italian tapas which we sampled a few of.

Wifi: No.

Cafe Florian

Cafe Florian | Venice | Italy | The Macadames - 1

Location: Piazza San Marco, Venezia

Coffee: I didn’t actually order a coffee here because I refused to pay the 6 euros per person charge for the pianist. Although beautiful, I don’t like being forced to pay for something I never requested. But several bloggers online have stated that they love the coffee here so I thought i’d include it.

Atmosphere: The venue has a great vibe but very, very busy and touristy so if you’re looking for something a bit more quiet, this place isn’t for you.

Seating:  There are loads of seats inside and out but I would suggest sitting outside because it’s so very beautiful looking out onto the piazza. But in saying that, the inside is equally as picturesque.

Service: The waiters were those shmancy ones dressed in tuxedos and bow ties and somewhat intimidating, but I can’t attest to their service as I didn’t order anything.

Food: They have a full menu of food and beverage options available.

Wifi: Unknown.

I love this. Especially because it reminds me the detail in cafes and coffee shops in Europe. The intricate detail of the coffee and unique atmosphere to sit and drink the great coffee drink. It’s truly an experience. It’s sad that in the USA there isn’t this much detail. I have such a strong appreciation for a great cup of coffee! Hope someday we can have a great cup of coffee somewhere 🙂 I’m pinning this for whenever I go to Rome!
