Best Australian Wines September | The Macadames

This month we have 2 sparklings from the Margaret River and Canberra Regions – what better way to toast to the start of Spring!

Don’t forget to hashtag #winewiththemacadames when you try our wine recommendations. We’d love to hear what you think and get a peek at what’s in your glass. Cheers!

Canberra Region from Anisa

Gallagher Wines Blanc de Blanc | Canberra District

This special local sparkling is Spring in a glass! You can buy it online here.

Vineyard: Gallagher Wines

Wine: 2007 Blanc de Blanc

Grape: 100% Blanc de Blanc

Tasting Notes: From the vineyard – Fruit dominant and full flavoured, the palate is clean and long with good fruit sweetness and balance with a clean and crisp finish. The wine is fruit driven with a pleasant yeast development and richness. Full, soft and delicate in a great example of the style.

My thoughts: I have only tried this sparkling once but it stuck in my mind as being a standout for local sparkling. It was crisp and balanced with a meloney scent.

I’d drink it with: Seafood, fresh fruit or dessert.

Margaret River from Ash

Windows Estate Mousseux | Margaret River

You can buy it from their online store here.

Vineyard: Windows Estate

Wine: 2011 Mosseux

Grape: 100% Chenin Blanc

Tasting Notes: From the vineyard – A gently sparkling wine with a soft elder flower flavour that will become distinctively honeyed as the wine ages.

My thoughts: It’s a gentle and light sparkling that is easy to drink – a little too easy as the weather starts to warm up!

I’d drink it with: Fresh prawns, cheese or a fruit platter.
