Nostalgic. It’s what I’m feeling today. I’m missing the little slice of the French Alps I called home not too long ago.
I miss the cobbled streets. The cold air. The smell of mulled wine wafting through the streets.
I miss spending the days on the mountain and the nights in our little mountain home. Although small and hideously decorated, it was cosy none the less.
Chamonix for me, was a place that felt like home from the moment we arrived.
We spent the cold winter months getting air on a snowboard, getting to know ourselves and eachother, learning French and warming up with raclette and chocolate chaud.
I never expected to love it so much. Or miss it so much.
For the most part I did two things, snowboarded and ate. From scouring the fresh produce at the farmers markets or spending hours at the fromagerie choosing my cheese of the day, I took in every smell, every experience. I was dedicated to tasting the best Chamonix had to offer. Everything Chamonix had to offer.
I tried my hand at French cooking and often let others do it for me. It was a culinary adventure that I will not soon forget.
Today, I wanted to share a snippet of my experience with you and have put together a little hit list for when you find yourself in this slice of alp heaven.
I hope to be back very soon but until then, let me live vicariously through you.
