Nothing beats the vibe when creative people get together. I’m always amazed how relative strangers can pile into a house for a few days, share bedrooms, break bread and swap stories, all in the name of a shared passion. Professional photographers sat along side complete beginners and we all learned from each other in one way or another.
The Local is Lovely Workshop is the perfect retreat for those wanting to learn more about food photography and blogging, but is equally fitting for those who love food and the joy it brings. We spent 2 and a half days learning from the best of the best and without a doubt, everyone walked away with a lot of learnings and inspiration.
Luisa’s laugh and screams of encouragement were heard from all over the property. It’s so lovely that someone so talented and successful, has so much time for learning novices and genuinely makes you feel like your photo is so “friggen amazing”.
Skye McAlpine, a sweet soul who travelled all the way from Venice to be with us, was so generous with her knowledge from all things food styling, recipe development and how to start the process of getting a cookbook off the ground. I certainly have come home with a new focus on improving my recipes and story telling for my readers.
The hostess with the mostest, Sophie, no doubt put in countless hours to pull the event together and you can see her face light up when she sees the guests making friends and joyfully snapping away. She’s created a wonderful event and I can’t wait till she releases her next round of workshops as I can’t wait to go to another one, even if it is just to meet new friends.
I will let the photos do the rest of the talking and so you can get to know the other attendees, be sure to check them out at their respective sites and accounts.
