Lychee Martini

A refreshingly simple but delicious summer cocktail!

Recipe for Lychee Martini by Anisa Sabet for The Macadames. 

I served lychee martinis on Christmas day and they were just a really lovely way to start off the day. They are very easy to throw back and pretty strong, so be sure to pace yourself.

My husband was a cocktail maker for years in London and I love how much I learn from him when he makes us drinks. A martini is an explicitly stirred cocktail as you want to prevent little shards of ice watering down the mixture (which happens when shaking). Stirring a cocktail cools it without ruining it’s flavour and is important when making lychee martinis.

What you need:

  • Large glass
  • Cocktail stirrer
  • Cocktail strainer
  • 2 martini glasses

Ingredients (makes 2):

  • 90ml (3 shots) vodka
  • 15ml (1/2 shot) vermouth
  • 60ml (2 shots) lychee syrup or juice
  • Ice

Method:

1. Fill the large glass with ice cubes. Pour over the vodka, vermouth and lychee syrup/juice. Slowly stir the mixture with the cocktail stirrer for about 15 seconds. Strain the mixture into your martini glasses and pop a lychee or two in there.
