Being around other creatives feeds my soul like nothing else. There’s something magical about surrounding yourself with like minded people and seeing what sparks.
For my birthday this year, my sweet husband gifted me a trip to the US to attend this First We Eat workshop with Eva Kosmas Flores, Carey Nershi and Linda Lomelino. For a few days we stayed in a beautiful log cabin nestled into the Appalachian mountains of Tennessee, broke bread with new friends and learned everything from food styling to how to make our own plasterboard backdrops. Having recently hosted my own food photography retreat, I can’t tell you how good it was to be a guest this time around.
The group was small, just seven, which made it a really intimate experience where I felt I left having got to speak to everyone properly. I’m now at home, buzzing with ideas, inspiration and have a new-found drive to get back into my work again.
I have collected my favourite photos from the first half of the workshop, I hope you enjoy.
