The Macadames Turns 1

Today is a special day, The Macadames turns one. What a year it’s been. We dipped our feet into the world of blogging and are still finding them. When I look back on the year I am so happy with how far we (and I) have come.

I personally have learnt so much over the past year; from website design to SEO (that’s search engine optimisation Mum) and from food photography to how to not get dumped while doing style shoots with your fiancee, i’ve loved learning all these new things and finding my passion for photography. But most of all I’ve loved meeting all these new people, both in person and online.

I really love interacting with readers all over the world and hopefully inspiring or helping in any small way I can. I love seeing our stats grow slowly every month, it means we are reaching more and more people. I know there is so much still I want to learn and share and I thank you, our readers, for taking this journey with us.

But most of all I need to thank my beautiful fellow Macadames, without their input, support, ideas and inspiration, this blog would not be half of what it is. I thank you both for being yourselves and sharing this fun adventure with me.

From Tegan

On the 28th of April last year, I was emailing Anisa as she was organising a mutual friend’s hens night. I had been following the blog and saw that she was looking for contributors. Before I really even considered the technicalities, I emailed to see what type of content she was looking for. Before I knew it, I was knee deep in the world of blogging, spending my weekends dragging around my shiny new camera and taking even more photos of food than anyone thought was possible.

What I’ve learnt:

1 – I learnt almost immediately that I am the most awkward model in front of a camera so I have focused the majority of my content on my second passion outside of fashion – FOOD. I hope you have enjoyed learning about all of the amazing places that I frequent in Melbourne and also what I am cooking at home. You can expect to see plenty more where that came from over the next year.

2 – Whilst doing some café reviews, I learnt that it’s not good for your relationship to ask your other half to ‘WAIT!’ for you to take 84 photos of his breakfast before he can eat it. Believe me when I tell you, it always ends in tears.

3 – After years of only using an iPhone, I learnt that a good camera will do wonders. I am obsessed with my camera. I haven’t even began to really utilise all of the features of my fabulous Olympus OM-D EM1. My goal for the next year is to take some photography classes to really expand my technical knowledge.

As you can imagine, I have learnt so much over the last year and yet still have so much more that I want to develop on. Thank you for sharing this journey with me and for following. I am looking forward to sharing more of my life as a Macadame with you!

Wow! The Macadames turns 1! I remember when I started following The Macadames online and have sinced watched it grow from strength to strength. I was lucky enough to start contributing to this fantastic site in January this year and I have to say it is a real honour to be involved in a creative project with two other fabulous females.

Hats off to Anisa – the creative force behind this online community. The Macadames is her brainchild and I have so much admiration and respect for the dedication and love she puts into this.

I’m really looking forward to watching the space evolve and grow with more contributors and new readers over the next 12 months.
